Default Hey GW Community, afk for ~3 years

Hey there GW Fans and Comm!

Been out of the loop for about 3 years now on Guild wars, i logged in yesterday to see whats up and cant quiet figure out whats the "in" thing these days,

Do people still run FoW? , whats the "everybodys doing it" in EoTN? i figure i should complete EoTN on my monk/mesmer, how about classes? can you solo monk still? whats the solo or "class combo to have!" ?

Are my green weps from the dwarves in southern shiverpeaks still the top weps?

Hows the pvp? Whats everyone doing to keep them entertained? i noticed there was new content released in preparation for Guild Wars 2, where do I go to see this (not the costumes but I think i read new missions somewhere?)

I felt so out of the loop when i logged in, I left right about the time EoTN came out, i had only gone so far on my monk to the new charr lands,

I guess i should complete the Storyline for now, but after that let me know whats the new fad in town!

My advice is to avoid the "fads" and "what's in" and just play how you wanna play :P

I never really did the whole farming thing, and could care less which class can solo (I still roll everywhere with my warrior)

Play the game, join up in an active guild and start playing to find out!

Uh if you left right before eotn came out, your SF greens were outdated a long time ago...

lol... you almost come back to a totally different game...

fow runs are still popullar, in EoTN the people usually do the dungeons, not much solo in the game... most popullar farms were nerfed 600 for example... the greens from the southern shiverpeaks are not longer valuable... about pvp I cant say much... but there are some big changes too a new are called codex, there are not longer TA and HB... just play the game you will be fine

Misleading topic title. I thought you were simply informing all of us you would be stepping away from the computer for approximately three years.

If you've been out that long, just try to relearn the game. See what builds are being requested in the missions.

Pretty much anything can be completed now in 30 mins or so, often with teams of only 2-3 people. Elite areas don't really have any status anymore.

Quote:

Everyone is filling their Hall of Monuments. Basically you put things in like Destroyer/Tormented weapons, minipets, etc. Stuff you put in your HoM will give you some kind of cool stuff in GW2. We have no idea what yet though.

Quote:

Monks don't usually solo anymore. They used 600/Smite for a while (duo monk team), but that got a nerf recently. Don't know how usable it is now, but it's nowhere near as good as it was.

Assassins. Shadow Form makes you invincible. Anet tried to nerf it, but ended up making it better. That sums up how good Anet is at balancing (it also took them about 3-4 times as long to get the update out as they told us, which didn't help).

Nope. Mostly Prophecies greens are complete junk. Now Anet has added tons of greens with perfect mods (as in, good ones, not like lightning damage bows). You're even allowed to pick one every time a character finishes a campaign.

People say it's dying. I wouldn't know really, I've never been into it much.

Filling their HoM. People who have been playing for a long time are leaving because there simply isn't anything else to do. New players are still rolling in though, so the community is still decently large.

Oh, and speed clears, as previously mentioned. Beating the Underworld in 10 mins or so. Can't remember what it is since Shadow Form was changed.

Don't be concerned. There are heaps of new people. Join a guild if that will help you get on your feet again. The changes have mostly been with skills, so it's just a matter of refamiliarising yourself.

It is what you make it.

Personally I don't see any need to farm.

Very few greens from anywhere are particularly valuable these days, but be careful about the generalization that all the old SF greens are junk!

A lot of the SF greens' stats are considered far from ideal these days. If the particular green (from anywhere) doesn't have a unique skin and/or an especially useful/popular combination of mods, it's not likely to be worth much. Some with nice stats and skin get oversupplied with the current farms, but there hasn't been a lot of farming in SF for years now.

There a number of SF greens that are still quite popular and pricey (for greens anyway.) Many have skins one cannot acquire in any other form in PvE (Tanzit's Defender, Willcrusher, and Drago's Flatbow spring to mind, but there may be others. I still notice a fair number of wtb ads for those, and there aren't a lot of folks farming SF for greens like back in the day.) Rago's Flame Staff and Galigord's Stone Staff don't get the kind of prices they used to, but they're far from merch food. Functionally, they're not bad, and nostalgia seems to help keep the value up.

Cheers & WB!

If you've been gone for 3 years, then treat it like a new game. It's impossible to list all the changes. If you left before it started, GW has in-game access to a wiki via F10 or Help on menu or /wiki in chat.

Ritualists, assassins are the main solo farmers. Warriors got a nice buff this year and mesmers are next. Henchmen skills were revised. PvP henchmen were all replaced with winning builds from a contest so are more effective. Team Arena and Hero Battles have been replaced with Codex Arena. The current "War in Kryta" is the in-thing - things are heating up between Shining Blade and White Mantle. And so on.....

Also w/ that henchmen buff in pvp they left out zaishen elite if you ever did that. Thought that was kinda sad. But yea i cant really sumerize it better then marty thats the way it looks nowadays(but i dont think its right that the uW and stuff is worthless you cant roll that area or any elite area w/ 2~3ppl.)

Last I heard was 23 minutes but I don't keep up with those times really.
